Note: Boards can and will naturally change color over time, which can be accelerated without proper storage and care. All of our boards come with instructions on how to properly clean and care for your hardwood cutting boards. Notes for proper care:
-
Cleaning: Use a mild soap and water solution to clean the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers that can damage the wood.
-
Drying: Wipe the wood dry immediately after cleaning to prevent water damage. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
-
Oil or Wax: About once a month, apply a thin layer of food-safe mineral oil to your clean, dry cutting boards to help protect and nourish the wood. Linseed oil and beeswax can also do the job nicely.
-
Avoid Extreme Conditions: Keep wooden items away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and excessive humidity, as these can cause warping, cracking, or discoloration.
-
Regular Inspection: Periodically check for any signs of wear, damage, or loose parts. Address issues promptly to prevent further damage.
